Shockwave Therapy

Holistic PT is excited to now offer shockwave technology, SoftWave TRT Electrohydraulic Broadly Focused Shockwave, to pelvic floor and traditional PT clients.
SoftWave TRT, also known as Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) stimulates the body’s natural healing response. With increased blood supply, reduction of inflammation and accelerated healing, the time it takes to recover may be reduced. Shockwave can reduce chronic and acute pain, repair, remodel and regenerate tissue.

Shockwave Therapy Pricing

At Holistic PT, the benefit of shockwave is magnified by combining it with physical therapy techniques (dry needling, kinesiotaping, manual therapy, exercise prescription).

$180 for 30 minute PT + shockwave
$220 for 45 minute PT + shockwave
$275 for 60 minute PT eval + shockwave

Each shockwave treatment delivers 1000-1500 shocks.
For each 500 additional shocks, the cost is $50. For example, 2000 shocks would increase cost by $50, up to 2500 shocks would increase cost by $100, etc.

The Research

ESWT has been shown to heal tissue by promoting an anti-inflammatory environment and by angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels.

SoftWave TRT has provided extensive training and continuing education about shockwave technology to Holistic PT. More details on the research and technology can be accessed at https://softwavetrt.com

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The treatment is delivered via electrohydraulic technology, the gold standard of shockwave therapy. The shockwave enters the body as soundwaves that affect all tissue the applicator is directed at. The soundwaves can reach as deep as 12 cm (the height of a standard can), and it results in increased blood flow and decreased inflammation.

  • Over an area without inflammation, it feels like a rubber band snapping on your skin. Over a ā€œhot spotā€, patients report a deeper discomfort, often the same discomfort they are being treated for.Ā  As the treatment progresses, those ā€œhot spotsā€ tend to resolve, giving good relief from pain in the course of one session.

  • A treatment lasts about 15 minutes depending on the number of shocks. Some patients notice a dramatic improvement with just 3 sessions, while more chronic issues may require 6 or more sessions to feel significant improvement of symptoms.

  • 1000-1500 shocks cost $150, each additional 500 shocks are $50. Optimal healing occurs when shockwave therapy is combined with physical therapy. Depending on how long the session is will determine the total cost. Please speak with your physical therapist about cost of combined PT and shockwave sessions.

  • Shockwave is currently not covered under most insurance plans; we can provide a superbill for you to submit if requested.

Holistic PT is a fee-for-service practice. We do not accept or bill insurance. You will be provided with a detailed receipt (often called a superbill) that you can submit to your insurance for any available out-of-network benefits. You are welcome to make payment with an HSA card.
